I thought about that before I added it... telling lies.... hmm.
When you live a life that isn't full of content, then you are living a lie. Contentment comes from being satisfied with the course your life is taking. I looked up the word satisfaction on Wiktionary.org...
satisfaction
1. fulfillment of a need or desire.
2. the pleasure obtained by such fulfillment.
3. the source of such gratification.
To fulfill a need or desire means you are actively seeking for fulfillment. But in order for that to happen, you have to identify that need or desire in the first place.
The Latins coined the phrase 'Temet Nosce' (Know thyself), although other cultures understood this necessary step in achieving contentment in life... Socrates and Pythagoras were among those Greeks that understood this.
Soul searching is a peaceful and rewarding journey... sometimes it can be painful discovering truths about ourselves, but when any of us look at ourselves through honest eyes the end result can only be positive.
I find peace in being creative... music, drawing, sculpting, building, fixing, learning... these things matter to me. They are a part of my being. Would it not make sense, then, to pursue them? To pursue anything else would be to pursue a lie and a life of unhappiness.
Life is precious, and we are here for such a short time. Live to achieve contentment and peace.

Life is pain, with brief moments of levity. Oddly enough, without one, the other loses it's significance.
